ABOUT LITTLE BONES
Alexandra Marvar is a New York City-based writer, photographer, and media professional and the principal of Little Bones Media. She has designed and built approximately 60 web sites for artists, writers, small businesses and non-profits since her first project — her own photography portfolio — in 2006. She has worked as a web editor for Vanity Fair, Jane, W and GQ magazines, Conde Nast Digital and Hearst Digital, and as a web designer for the College Relations Office at Vassar College, her alma mater. She is presently the head of marketing at VHX, a technology platform for direct internet video distribution.
Marvar works in marketing, communications, and editorial. Her writing has been published by VanityFair.com, Huffington Post, Cinespect.com, GOOD, New York Magazine, Jane, W, NPR, Time Out New York and more, and her interview portfolio spans from Audrey Tautou to Hal Hartley to Iggy Pop. In 2012-2013, she excelled in a lead writer role at a tech start-up (part of the Skype / Microsoft family) based in NYC, during which time she also studied marketing and digital media strategy at Harvard, Columbia, and Kellogg School of Management. She has lead photo workshops at City College of New York and DREAM Project School, Cabarete, Dominican Republic, and a freelance journalism guest lecture at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
She co-founded the O+ Festival, an organization dedicated to the exchange of art and medicine between under-insured artists and musicians, and art-loving doctors, dentists, and other wellness professionals. In its first year, she designed the logo, helped define and articulate the fledgling mission, built the first website, and ran all social media, press, and public relations, as well as contributed to programming the music roster. She has continued to volunteer each year as it has evolved into a national arts organization.
